At Millstone we offer a range of activity-based sessions. Various forms of creativity are available including art & design, cookery, craft, photography and the use of computers. During these sessions we aim to promote self-esteem and self-confidence as well as encouraging service users to make their own choices and try new activities.
All of our sessions have a maximum of 7 service users to create an intimate setting, which enables a better level of social interaction. All sessions are planned and supervised by highly experienced and CRB cleared staff. The staff to service ratio is between 1:4 and 1:7
Cookery & Life Skills
During our popular cookery sessions service users plan, prepare and cook a range of savoury and sweet dishes, which they take home to eat.
Service users are encouraged under supervision to improve their domestic skills within the limits of their ability. They help with the washing up and clearing up as part of the process of understanding good hygiene.
They are also where possible encouraged to understand the nutritional value of different foods and the value of a well balanced diet.
These sessions are both fun and productive and service users gain a sense of achievement when they take their dishes home.
Art & Crafts Design & Creative Skills
Art & Crafts are very popular, and working under close supervision, these activities increase self-esteem and confidence. Activities are based around an individual’s abilities and interests, developing skills as well as personal interests.
We have a wide, and extensive array of materials available, as well as a selection of equipment and reference materials to inspire and inform.
There are also computers for service users to use safely to explore the internet, or to use various software applications for design & photography.
